Wildflowers for Algernon

I first visited Shenk’s Ferry Wildflower Preserve in the Southern end of Lancaster County exactly ten years ago this past month.  It’s a beautiful small preserve under the stewardship of PP&L featuring a flat half mile trail with a bevy of wildflowers on either side of the path.  I returned to Shenk’s Ferry last week with the Lancaster County Photography Meetup Group for some much needed fresh air and to shoot the mostly dime and quarter sized blooms. April is a great time for wildflowers ...

I've never been able to touch my toes in the traditional gym class kind of way.  My spine just doesn't cooperate.  To paint a more vivid picture for you, it's not like I just can't bridge the last couple of centimeters or so with the tips of my fingers oh-so-close to brushing the ends of my feet.  I don't even come remotely close.  We're talking at least a half a foot or more between the floor and the end of my upper extremities. Of course, I was drawn to the contrast of the brightly colored rain slickers and the red umbrellas on such a dreary drab day.  Not sure I ended getting something that really ended up doing the scene justice.  I do like the little bits of rain popping off the umbrella near the edge.  The ladies were out on First Friday in Lancaster to promote Singin' in the Rain at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre. Downtown Lancaster, PA. ...
