Burning Question
Why is our culture obsessed with combing distinctly unique, and some might argue, culinarily vital ingredients into texture-less bottles of slop? Beyond its signature tartness, a dill pickle chip brings a welcome crunch and snap to your cheeseburger experience and, more importantly, fools us into thinking we’re actually making progress towards our daily vegetable quota. On the other hand, I suppose it is asking a lot of the standard American consumer to open two separate jars during one meal prep.
Questionable Design Choice
Not much to quibble with here as Kraft is sticking to its tried and true packaging design playbook. Although the “Great for Dipping” badge makes the classic mistake of trying to balance the top-heavy copy layout by repeating the phrase “great for” on the bottom of the badge as well. This literally makes it read, “Great for Dipping Great for” which of course makes a lot more sense than:
Great for Dipping:
- and Burgers!
- and Snacking!
- with Veggies!
- and eventually throwing out after using exactly once then taking up precious real estate in your refrigerator’s condiment shelf for 10 months, only to be replaced by a bottle of Cheesesteak-Flavored Sriracha you recently purchased at Trader Joe’s.
Unexpected Bonus
Twelve fluid ounces is a lot of Pickle Mayonnaise. That’s roughly 11.75 more fluid ounces of this than any human being will ever require.
Appropriately Priced?
Fifty cents seems on target for the purchase of a gag gift for a friend who either had an embarrassing incident with a cucumber in college, or has a pickle-related nickname.
