I didn’t get the memo on when the term “suspect” evolved into “person of interest” in regards to a police investigation. Has our society become too politically correct (or legally hamstrung) that we can’t even imply someone is suspect?
If that’s the case, do you remember the last time you read a news story that indicated the authorities had detained and were “talking” to a “person of interest.” Let’s be honest with ourselves, your first thought wasn’t “Gee, I hope this person of interest can shed some light on the investigation!”
It was probably more along the lines of “Nice they have that SOB and man, that guy is going to get smoked in prison for sure!”
